The Magic of MTS

You’ve all heard the cliché quotes over the years, “it was like a playoff game” but really it wasn’t. Because frankly – only a playoff game is a playoff game. I don’t know how to describe it any other way. Playoff games are different. I’ve been to fourteen different NHL arena’s and lucky enough to attend several playoff games. Up until this season the best arena I had been in for atmosphere and noise was Montreal. They get it; they understand ever nuance of the game and when their team needs a lift. I can only imagine what a playoff game would be like there. That being said, you now have company Montreal...

Fall 2011 - #4

Winter 2012 - #3

It could easily be argued that Paul Postma is indeed the top prospect in the Winnipeg Jets organization. Young, skilled defensemen quite simply are very hard to come by. The Jets organization are flush with young (ish) talent on the blue line in Winnipeg and that has enabled them to be very patient with Postma and let him further his development in St. John’s. Carl Klingberg is a load – 6’3” 205 and only 20 years old. Scouts love numbers like that when you combine them with skill. Factor in that he has 21 points in 24 games in the AHL so far this season and now you have something to work with. Fortunately for Winnipeg they already have Blake Wheeler on the pro roster so they can move slow with Klingberg which is good news considering the numbers he posted in his recent call up. That being said this is Klingberg’s first pro season in North America after last season abbreviated run with Chicago in the AHL for only 8 games and making his NHL debut in what would be the Thrashers last ever game vs. Pittsburgh on April 10, 2011.

Many experts felt that Winnipeg went “of the board” or “reached” when they selected Scheifele from the Barrie Colts.
