The Vancouver Canucks were a tough opponent for the Winnipeg Jets, and they didn't escape the West Coast alive, blowing a third period lead despite a strong performance from Ondrej Pavelec and a beauty goal by Blake Wheeler to put the team ahead.

Welcome to the advanced box score—we will provide scoring chance details, who took or set up chances for either team, as well as the Statistical Three Stars and its companion, the Statistical Three Goats, which is based on a player's actual performance during a game and not necessarily the results.

First off, here's a look at individual chances. A scoring chance is a shot, either a goal, save or miss, taken within the scoring area marked above. A chance created is awarded to a player who makes a clear, deliberate attempt to set up the chance and finds a player in space.

Winnipeg Chances Taken Chances Created Total Chances
Andrew Ladd 4 1 5
Blake Wheeler 2 2 4
Bryan Little 2 1 3
Chris Thorburn 1 2 3
Kyle Wellwood 2 0 2
Evander Kane 1 1 2
Tobias Enstrom 1 1 2
Grant Clitsome 1 0 1
Alex Burmistrov 1 0 1
Tanner Glass 1 0 1

It was another strong night for the first line, but Vancouver's second line also did a great job:

Excellent! I opened jetsnation this morning hoping you recorded scoring chances for last night's games and here it is.

I am genuinely shocked that SC came out pretty much even given the shot differential (Also, ES corsi came out +22 in favour of VAN).

I think it's a little harsh to give Hainsey a goat given that he was only a -1 SC and spent most of the night trying to stop the Sedins. Plus he was forced to do that with the insufficient support of GST and Grant Clitsome.

Yeah, that guy.

BTW, more Jets writing from you would be great. If it would make you feel like you're writing wasn't going unnoticed I can flood the comment section with abuse and suggestions that the numbers don't tell the whole story and that you should JUST WATCH THE GAME.

;)
