Nation Network Hockey Pool, December 4th Edition

Martin Brodeur is killing my team, and the teams of a bunch of different entrants. His zero shutouts and 0.879 SV% give him a pool value of -52.5, by far the worst of any current player. Nobody carrying him on their team is in the top-25 this week.

The original entries and rules are here. Scoring is as laid out in the original post, with one exception: because goaltenders are graded primarily on save percentage, some have run up enormous (or enormously bad) totals in the early going, so I have multiplied their totals by 0.3175 (to reflect where we are in the NHL season) to prevent them from crazily skewing the contest. As the season continues, these updates will feature goaltender totals divided by a lesser amount.

I've been wondering the same thing :)

Some of it's injuries, some of it's goaltending, and some of it's "playing it safe"

Brodeur is killing me, and Bryzgalov isn't doing me any favours.

My blueline's been crippled by injuries - Green, Doughty, Enstrom, and Myers have all missed significant time.

But, I also made one terrible, bone-headed pick. Rather than going for the win, I figured I'd be better off not losing dramatically. At the time the Oilers were still making noise about sending RNH down, so I grabbed a guy I knew would be in the NHL - Brayden Schenn.

Ooch! Tough luck!

I made the Brodeur mistake last year in my Y! pool and wasn't making that again.

At least one of your recommendations--Ray Whitney--has been money in the bank.

I managed to snag Tomas Kaberle as my last pick. We were both wrong about a bounce back season there at this juncture. Yikes!
